Let's now focus on creating comprehensive site plan keynotes by leveraging our existing floor plan keynotes as a foundation. Begin by navigating to File > Open to access your current floor plan keynotes file. Once opened, immediately save a copy by selecting File > Save As and rename it "Site Plan Keynotes" to maintain version control and preserve your original work.
Site plan keynotes serve a distinctly different purpose than floor plan annotations, requiring a streamlined approach that emphasizes exterior site conditions and infrastructure elements. To begin customizing your template, double-click on the "Floor Plan" header text to activate the text editor, then select and replace it with "Site Plan." This simple change establishes the proper document hierarchy and ensures clarity for project stakeholders.
Close the text editor and zoom into the content area to begin populating your keynote categories. Click to deselect any existing text, then systematically input the essential site elements that require documentation and specification.
Begin with foundational infrastructure by typing "Sidewalk and Curb" followed by two line breaks using the Enter key. Continue building your keynote library with "Street, Centerline" (Enter, Enter), then "Driveway" (Enter, Enter). For future development phases, add "Future Garden" (Enter, Enter) and "Future Lawn Area" to provide comprehensive site documentation that accounts for both existing conditions and planned improvements.
Once your text entries are complete, close the text editor and remove any unnecessary graphic elements or placeholder content that doesn't serve your site plan's specific requirements. To establish proper keynote numbering, use the Copy command (CP) to duplicate your keynote symbols from the top entry to each subsequent item below, ensuring consistent formatting throughout your legend.
After copying is complete, press Escape to exit the command, then systematically number each keynote by double-clicking on each symbol. Update the first copied symbol to "3," the second to "4," and the third to "5," maintaining sequential order that will integrate seamlessly with your existing drawing standards.
Execute a Zoom Extents command to verify the complete layout, then save and close the file to preserve your work. With your keynotes template complete, return to your AS100 drawing sheet to integrate this reference material.
In your AS100 sheet, navigate to the Insert tab and select Reference > Attach to import your newly created site plan keynotes. When prompted, specify the insertion point on screen as an attachment method, ensuring precise placement within your drawing layout.
Click OK and position the keynote legend in the upper portion of your sheet where it will be easily referenced without interfering with your primary site plan graphics. Use Ctrl+S to save your progress and commit these changes to your project file.
Your site plan keynotes are now fully integrated into your AS100 sheet, providing essential documentation that enhances drawing clarity and supports effective project communication. This systematic approach ensures consistency across your drawing set while maintaining the professional standards expected in contemporary architectural documentation.
